12.12 - 12.21.23: The Portal of Darkness + Magick
We are now in the 12.12 - 12.21 gateway, a sacred time of year that the EL* and I like to call the Portal of Darkness + Magick!
This year the 12/12 gateway began with the New Moon in Sagittarius, at the same time Mercury went Retrograde, enhancing this portal as a time of more inward reflection, review and returning to oneself. This sacred gateway closes shortly after the 12/21 Winter Solstice on 12/22 as the light returns and as we (re)turn on the sacred spiral of life together.
Many Ancient-Future Priestesses, Druid/Druidesses and witches - recognize that the veils between earth and spirit, matter and magick, start to thin around Samhain 11/1, throughout the 11/11 portal and that the veils reach their most liminal and open point on the winter solstice on 12/21.
In many Ancient Pre-Judeo-Christian cultures, including Ancient Greece, Ancient Avalon and Ancient Celtic / Druid Lineages, the 12/12 - 12/21 gateway was deeply revered as a time of increased silence, rest, stillness and going inward to commune with the light within. For Ancient - and modern - Oracles this is a portal of prophecy, accessing higher timelines and seeing into the future. It is also a time to prepare oneself for the turning of the wheel and the seasonal shift into winter.
In our modern digital age, with so much artificial light blasting away at all times of year, this can be a very “busy” time (esp as part of non-stop hustle culture) where people can find themselves pushing themselves well beyond exhaustion. However, as you continue to awaken to the truth of who you are as a multidimensional being, become more energetically sensitive and reconnect with your body and the Earth, you will likely notice a desire for enhanced quiet, rest and calm during this most liminal time of year.
As a (summer) solstice baby and an Ancient-Future Priestess, I love this time of year and find it to be incredibly sacred. It is a time that I like to use for deep rest, seeding my personal + collective dreams for the future, and preparing aka pre-pray-ring the energetic containers for all the devotional offerings I will deliver in 2024. For example, some of you may have noticed, that I have been on a pause from social media that began on 11/11 to enhance this period of going within to reconnect with Source. (I will return again to the socials in a new way, in the new year).
